Frequently Asked Questions

Will my call be confidential?

At Assurance Private Investigations our business is based on confidentiality, without it we wouldn't remain in business for very long. You can rest assured that you can expect and will receive 100% confidentiality from the initial enquiry right through to the conclusion of our investigation and beyond.

I am reluctant to call an investigator as I haven’t done so before what will happen when I phone?

When your call is answered you will immediately be talking with an investigator; this cuts down the number of people knowing your issue. Our investigators are experienced in all types of enquiries and have heard and dealt with the various types of problems people encounter. Your initial consultation is a free 30 minute call-back form an investigator who will give you confidential advice with no obligation; thus arming you with information you will require to find the best way forward with your problem. Prospective clients always find our investigators helpful and extremely personable so you will be quickly feel at ease. Don’t feel embarrassed, we are professionals and will quickly relate to your circumstances.

Will the person find out they are under surveillance?

We use techniques that allow us to remain covert. If, however, we feel that the subject has a high level of awareness because of their background or previous experience or has a history of being an aggressive driver we will recommend the appropriate resources. In some cases it may be necessary to utilise technical surveillance aids such as vehicle trackers to enable a successful operation.

Surveillance is an acquired skill requiring a constant real time evaluation of the need not to lose the subjects and the requirement to remain covert. We always err on the side of caution, remaining covert and will consult you at an early stage should any doubt exist. It may be necessary to use more than one investigator and if this is the case we will discuss this fully with you prior to commencement.

How much will it cost?

Our fee system is based on the service required, the estimated duration of the investigation and any mileage incurred. Fees are normally based on an hourly rate plus mileage. For surveillance services, a slightly higher charge per hour is incurred if the surveillance is conducted out with normal working hours or at weekends. We will send the fee structure to you when the appropriate service requirement is ascertained. We will agree a budget limit with you and advise when the limit is close to being reached.

How can I pay?

We accept payment by cash and debit/credit card payments through PayPal. Credit card payments are subject to a small handling charge which is a cost imposed on us by the bank. You will be asked you preferred form of payment prior to work commencing with a retaining deposit in advance.

I don’t want anybody to know I am consulting investigators. Will someone contact me unannounced?

We always agree in the initial stages contact protocols that you dictate and can suggest some secure means that have worked well for clients in the past.

What do I get for my money?

You will receive verbal reports on our findings throughout the investigation and at the conclusion of the case an evidence package consisting of a written report that will feature photographs as appropriate and if requested, video evidence which is normally supplied in DVD format.

Are the investigators up to the job?

Our investigators are trained to a very high standard. We also invest heavily in the most up to date surveillance equipment.

I need to trace someone what information would the investigator need?

We need as much information as possible so the more information you can provide the more straight forward the task will be. In some cases only vague and historic information is available, such as a name and birth date, we can often still achieve results in theses challenging cases.

Is it too late to get someone followed tonight?

It depends on our commitments and availability at the time. We do work with other agencies but rest assured we will never subcontract to investigators who do not have the skills and high standards we insist upon.

Is the company licensed as private investigators?

In the UK licensing does not exist but we self regulate. We have Professional Indemnity insurance, have subscribed to a clean criminal records check and have passed the required competency based examinations of the Blackford Centre for Private Investigation.

Is it legal?

We only operate legally and ethically. It is legal to conduct surveillance and take photographic and video images of anyone who can be seen from a public place. We conduct surveillance ethically and respect the rights of third parties when doing so.
